🗓️ Day 1 – Forests, Mountains & Springs

🏞️ 1. Profitis Ilias Mountain

  • Altitude: ~800m – peaceful pine forest, fresh air
  • Hike: Easy trails around the abandoned Italian sanatorium and the charming Elafos Hotel
  • Views over western Rhodes and Turkish coast
  • Tip: Spot the deer or enjoy a coffee at Elafos café

💧 2. Seven Springs (Epta Piges)

  • A lush oasis with flowing springs, ducks, and shady picnic areas
  • Short hike through a narrow tunnel to the artificial lake (fun but bring shoes that can get wet)
  • Trail Options: Small circular hikes through pine forests
  • Tip: Lunch at the on-site taverna under plane trees

🌄 3. Sunset Stop: Filerimos Hill or Salakos

  • Visit Filerimos Cross for sweeping sunset views
  • Alternatively, stop at Salakos village – known for its springs and peaceful square
  • Optional short trail: Salakos to Prophet Elias trail

🗓️ Day 2 – Wild Trails & Hidden Beaches (Optional)

🥾 4. Akramitis Mountain Hike (Moderate–Difficult)

  • Second highest peak in Rhodes (825m), near Monolithos
  • Trail: ~3.5–4 hours round trip with panoramic views over Prasonisi and the west coast
  • Start from Monolithos or Siana village
  • Tip: Bring water, hat, and wear good shoes

🏖️ 5. Fourni Beach or Glyfada Beach (for post-hike swim)

  • Wild, quiet beaches on the west coast – great to relax after hiking
  • No major facilities, bring snacks & water
  • Great for a peaceful swim and dramatic cliffs

🦋 Optional Stop (Spring–Summer):

Butterfly Valley (Petaloudes)

  • Unique park with thousands of butterflies (June–Sept)
  • Shaded trail, small wooden bridges, and a climb to a small monastery
  • Family-friendly and cooler in summer
